Research > Advanced Data Analysis

Picture

In our lab, we analyze complex datasets to convert the raw information into meaningful and actionable stories. We aim to identify the optimal analysis strategies to test the research hypotheses and promote the effective communication of results.

We map the research questions of interest onto the most appropriate set of quantitative models to fit the models to data at hand. Examples of analytic approaches we use are:
  • Structural equation modeling,
  • Multilevel modeling,
  • Categorical data analysis,
  • Growth curve analysis,
  • Mixture modeling,
  • Integrative data analysis,
  • Statistical mediation analysis,
  • Longitudinal models,
  • Psychometric analysis,
  • Propensity score analysis and other quasi-experimental methods, to name a few.

Drug Prevention Program Evaluation: Unpacking the Mechanisms
This book chapter describes the use of a methodological tool (i.e. mediation  analysis) to identify the causal  mechanisms of prevention programs  targeting drug use, smoking, and alcohol  misuse. It gives examples of evidence-  based drug prevention interventions  and describes how they achieve their  effects. More...
